Hello there and thanks for looking.
I'm Mark and I moved to Gdansk from Cheltenham, UK in November 2013 with my wife and family. Since getting married to my polish wife over 9 years ago I have spent plenty of time here and I considered it to be my second home. I have previously worked in both business and technology in England for over 20 years but have always harboured a passion to teach full-time. I am currently working for three schools in Gdansk teaching mainly Business English for individuals and for companies. I love every minute of it but I am still inviting requests from companies or indivuals.
Although when teaching I have no agenda I try and focus on simple, powerful words. This is what English speakers use and quite often the overly elaborate but rather direct language taught by some polish and American teachers make the students sound slightly aloof or rude.
I am mobile within the Tri-city area but will normally charge for travel, depending on the length of the lesson, location, etc.
I am willing to offer business and report proof reading either with or without student participation.
Education, Qualifications, Experience:
Educated to degree level in the UK my real strength is my experience of working at a senior level in business in the UK It has given me a great love and understanding of people and it makes my teaching useful and relevant, especially to those who are maybe wishing to work abroad as I can also offer advice on what to expect.
I'm a qualifed network engineer and have a broad knowledge of technology (esp.linux/unix/ethical hacking) and the associated language. I'm a huge Anglophile and am keen to share my knowledge and keep myself up to date with both the UK and world current affairs.
My real strength, I feel comes from the gennuine "real world" experience in business from the UK. My use of business language will quite possibly be very dfferent from what you have been taught in the past. I will, unashamedly, make no apology for this as very much of what is taught here is irrelevant or laughably insincere.
Interests, Hobbies, & Other Info:
I'm a massive geek. I love technology, I'm attracted to the shady world of ethical hacking and network penetration. Although I'm not so young anymore I'm interested in judo and cycling. I'm a huge music fan and enjoy anything from Mahler to Muse.
